Mayor’s Report for May 21, 2024

May 7th

I presided over the Planning and Regular Meetings of the Marmora and Lake Council.

At 2:00, I presented a new business certificate to Kim Alldread who is starting her real estate business in Marmora.

May 8th

I met with Cheryl Kerr, MedEx.

Their company is providing PSW Heath Services in many of the communities and have been working with Gateway in Tweed. They are looking for opportunities for their business in light of the shortages in the health care profession. They are also interested in acquiring real estate to operate from.

May 9th

I chaired the Board of Health Transition Team Meeting in Belleville. This is now called SETT (South East Transition Team). Until the final decision from the province is made, the three Boards, representing Hastings Prince Edward, Leeds Grenville and Lanark and Kingston Frontenac Lennox and Addington, the meetings will rotate locations. The next meeting is Friday in Brockville and I will be attending.

May 13th

I attended the Mayoral Breakfast arranged by the COPE Christine Spencer, Executive Director, extended invitations to the local Mayors who represent the communities they support. Deputy Mayor Eric Sandford, Centre Hastings, and I were present. The breakfast was at the Miner's Restaurant and it was wonderful. Five of their attendees were present and Pat Wood represented their Board of Directors. This is such a wonderful community support. On behalf of myself and Council, I want to thank Christine and the COPE for the programs and services they provide to our communities.

In the afternoon, I presented a new business certificate to Chantel Collins, Tel's Touch Beauty. Her business is located with Lashes by Anna.

Then, I presented a certificate to Cheyenne Chamberlain, Crimson Apparel. There is an official opening and ribbon cutting on Saturday, May 25th at 11 :00.

May 17th

I worked with the Medical Officer of Health to prepare comments on the proposed MOU and the Agenda which will be presented at the upcoming meeting of the South East Transition Team (SETT) on Friday in Brockville, which I will be attending.

May 21st

Today, I attended Hastings County Planning and Development, and Finance, Property and Personnel Committee Meetings held at the Madoc Township Community Hall. In the afternoon, Hastings County conducted a workshop with Hastings County Council to discuss "Advocacy and Shared Services". Staff will be presenting a report to Council based on feedback from this exercise and determine the next steps and priorities for Hastings County Council and Staff.
